By creating inclusive environments and ensuring access and support for all, we empower our team, educators, and students to succeed together. We understand that achieving this vision requires intentionality, accountability, and continuous learning. Our commitment to these principles guides how we build our team culture, design our programs, and engage with the communities we serve.
How We Support Thriving Teams and Communities
The following four areas highlight the actions Breathe For Change is taking to realize our vision for wellness, inspiration, and community for every educator and student.
1. Accessible Wellness Experiences
Free Healing Resources: Breathe For Change offers free toolkits, webinars, and inclusive strategies for our community. These resources are designed to provide all educators and community leaders access to healing wellness practices, no matter their circumstance.
Financial Assistance Program: We make our life-changing programs more accessible to educators and community leaders who cannot afford our tuition.
2. Transformative Pedagogy
Inclusive and Responsive Curriculum: Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of diverse learners by incorporating trauma-informed, community-based, and healing-centered practices that honor and respect every identity.
Representation in Training and Leadership: We are committed to ensuring that our trainers reflect the diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences of the communities we serve, bringing invaluable perspectives to our programs.
Honoring Cultural Traditions: Breathe For Change seeks to teach holistic and historically-grounded practices that enhance collective well-being. We acknowledge the many people, cultures, and practitioners who have shaped the practices we integrate into our teachings.
3. Inclusive Team Culture
Collaborative Team Meetings: Breathe For Change strives to include all team members’ voices in relevant key decisions. Team meeting agendas are co-created and team members are invited to share feedback to help us fulfill our mission.
Focus on Belonging: Breathe For Change recognizes that having a diverse core team is a critical aspect of accomplishing our mission. We respect the unique worldviews, beliefs, and experiences of our team members, and strive to create a workplace where every team member feels valued, supported, and empowered to contribute their best.
4. Equitable Hiring
Reducing Bias in Recruitment: We work to mitigate the influence of bias on any hiring, firing, promotional, or other HR decisions. Our intentionally-designed hiring processes are designed to ensure fairness and provide all candidates an equal opportunity to succeed. This includes crafting job descriptions, conducting interviews, and evaluating performance with intention and care.
Recruiting Diverse Talent: We practice legal, non-discriminatory hiring procedures and recruit a diverse set of applicants for job positions before beginning the interview process. Our goal is to identify candidates that represent a wide range of identities across race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, age, and body type.
Just Human Resources Approach: We do not make hiring, firing, promotional, or other HR decisions based upon any dimension of diversity, regardless of the impact it has on our diversity markers.
